4th of July Celebrations on Lake Lanier

fireworks2.jpgLake Lanier is always a popular destination to celebrate Independence Day. Although there will be many events taking place on the lake for July 4th, the largest firework display in North Georgia, and perhaps the most well-known in the region is the Light Up the Lake Fireworks Independence Day Celebration hosted by Lake Lanier Islands.

All-day live entertainment, games, and family fun will precede the fireworks extravaganza. The park opens at 10 a.m. and the fireworks are scheduled for 9:40 p.m. Overnight packages and regular daily admission tickets are available. For more information, call Lake Lanier Islands at 770-932-7200, or visit their website. The Islands are located at 7000 Holiday Road in Buford.

Legion in Gainesville

After 40 years of hosting Gainesville's Fourth of July fireworks show, the American Legion won't be the site of this year's festivities - its moving to Laurel Park. The fireworks will be about 9:15 or 9:30.

Chateau Elan

Other festivities not on the lake are also sure to be good ways to celebrate the holiday. Chateau Elan at 100 Tour de France in Braselton has fireworks at dusk. Admission is free. For more information, call Chateau Elan at 678-425-0900.

Lanier National Speedway

There is also an Independence Day Celebration at the Lanier National Speedway at One Raceway Drive in Braselton. General admission tickets are $20 and pit tickets are $30. For more information, call 770-967-8600.

Yahoola Creek Park

Dahlonega has an old-fashioned family type Fourth of July Celebration followed by a fireworks show at Yahoola Creek Park at dusk.

Before July 4th

Some celebrations are planned to take place before July 4th. Gainesville Symphony Orchestra will hold its Patriotic Pops Concert from 6-10 p.m. on July 3rd at Brenau Ampitheatre at Brenau University, 500 Washington St. S.E., Gainesville. Call 770-532-5727, or visit their web-site for more information. The University Yacht Club has its Giant Lakewide Fireworks Celebration on July 3rd as well. University Yacht Club is located at 6649 Yacht Club Road in Flowery Branch.

Regardless of your plans, we wish you a happy Independence Day!
