Lake Lanier AssociationThink the lake is looking a little dirty? Nows your chance to help out. The Lake Lanier Association's 19th Annual Shore Sweep will be on September 29, 2007 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Volunteers may pick up trash bags to collect trash from the shoreline at fourteen participating marinas and parks around the lake. Styrofoam may be taken by boat to:

What Do Volunteers Receive?

In return for a full bag of trash, the volunteers will receive either a free T-shirt or, for scouts, a Shore Sweep 2007 patch, and directions to the Shore Sweep volunteer appreciation party at Lanier Park on Buford Dam Road that afternoon from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Volunteers from the Lake Lanier Association's spring Shore Sweep in April are invited to attend the party and asked to wear their Shore Sweep T-shirts. The volunteers will enjoy free food, entertainment and a chance to win great door prizes.

The Lake Lanier Association is asking for the public's assistance in letting them know areas of the lake where at lot of trash has accumulated. The association has placed a form on its web site, for people to give directions to these areas, which will then be listed on the web site so volunteers can choose areas to concentrate their efforts.

For more details, feel free to call the association on 770.503.7757.
