Laurel Park

Laurel Park is one of the very best parks on Lake Lanier.

Set close to the venue for the 1996 Olympic rowing competition, it has tennis, baseball, softball and volleyball facilities in addition to a mile-long running track.

The park lies just off the Cleveland Highway, north of Gainesville, and continues to have new facilities added. The most recent addition is a "Bark Park", with space for large and small dogs to play in an enclosed area.

There are also two large boat ramps and a huge parking lot, which makes it a favorite launching area for busy summer days.

Facilities:

  • 2 Little League fields and 2 softball fields
  • 2 Playgrounds
  • 2 restroom buildings
  • 2 tennis courts
  • 25 picnic sites with grills
  • 3 picnic shelters with water and electricity
  • Boat ramp
  • One-mile walking trail
  • Volleyball court
  • Sprayground (water playground) for small children

Directions:

Laurel Park is located off Highway 129 (Cleveland Highway) north of Gainesville. Take Exit 24 off I-985, and turn left at end of ramp onto Jessee Jewell Parkway. Travel to Limestone Parkway (2nd stoplight) and turn right. Go to the end of Limestone parkway and turn right onto Clevleand Highway. Park is located one mile from bridge on right at New Bridge Baptist Church. Follow signs.
