Local Tourist Board to Take Lake Lanier Name |
|
The Gainesville/Hall County Convention and Visitors Bureau is now acknowledging the fact that most people know this part of North Georgia for Lake Lanier. They're planning to rename themselves as the Lake Lanier Convention and Visitors Bureau. The drought has actually had some advantages for the lake, giving in national name recognition. Kay Parks, chairman of the G/HCCVB said that:
“We believed that this re-positioning of the bureau will be so much more than a name change,” Parks said. “Claiming the lake and all its amenities, as well as owning the rights to promote the eastern shoreline of Lake Lanier as the “official” place to visit, will aid in recruiting new business to our community as well as bringing in more visitors whose spending increases our municipal piggy bank.” This is great news for all of us involved with the lake. As the lake becomes more and more central to tourism in the area, more and more people will have an interest in maintaining a healthy, vibrant and full Lake Lanier.
